CALGARY, AB. - The BOSTON PIZZA WHL Player of the Week is forward Scott Glennie of the Brandon Wheat Kings.

Glennie collected seven points, scoring two goals and five assists to go with a +4 rating, in three games over the past week, helping the Wheat Kings post a 2-1-0-0 record in that span.

On Wednesday, January 20th, the Wheat Kings travelled to Prince Albert to face the Raiders. Glennie netted the Wheat Kings’ lone goal in a 4-1 loss to the Raiders. The two Clubs met again on Friday, January 22nd at the Keystone Centre in Brandon for the back half of their home-and-home series. Glennie scored his 18th goal of the season and added a pair of assists as the Wheaties downed the Raiders 6-2 and was named the games 2nd Star. On Saturday, January 23rd the Wheat Kings travelled to Saskatoon to face the Blades in a battle between East Division power houses. Glennie picked up an assist on all three of the Wheat Kings third period goals to lift his Club to a 5-2 win over the Blades.

With Glennie’s seven points over the last three games he has now reached the 50 point plateau in all three of his WHL seasons, currently sitting 30th among WHL scorers with 52 points (18 goals, 34 assists) in 46 games. The Wheat Kings have won four of their last five games and sit third in the WHL Eastern Conference with a 32-16-0-3 record for 67 points.

Glennie, an 18-year-old from Winnipeg, Manitoba, is currently playing his third season with the Brandon Wheat Kings. He was drafted by the Wheat Kings in the 2nd round – 29th overall at the 2006 WHL Bantam Draft and was recently selected by the Dallas Stars in the 1st round – 8th overall at the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.

The WHL has also nominated Ian Curtis of the Portland Winterhawks for the CHL Goaltender of the Week Award. Curtis posted a 2-0-0-0 road record this past week, stopping 80 of 82 shots faced for a 1.000 goals-against average and a remarkable 0.976 save percentage. Curtis, a native of Abbotsford, British Columbia, has appeared in 30 games this season posting an 18-7-1-1 record with three shut-outs.

Glennie and the Wheat Kings will continue a 4-game road trip Tuesday night in Cranbrook, B.C. against the Kootenay Ice. Brandon has won back to back games including Saturday's 5-2 win over the Eastern Conference leading Saskatoon Blades.

Brandon enters the week trailing the first place Blades by just two points.

For a guy who was struggling a bit after the Christmas break, this could be valued confidence going forward. Congrats. Who are Glennie's new line-mates?

I think he was with Raedeke and Lewadniuk. He's been getting some power play time on the point as well.

He was with Calvert and Walker unless that changed in the game in Saskatoon. The top 3 lines in the last home game were :

Rajala - Schenn - Stone
Calvert - Glennie - Walker
Lewadniuk - Raedke - Ferland

That will obviously change when Fehr and Wiebe get back, which will likely send Walker and Ferland to the 4th line.

But yes this is a good thing for Glennie who needs some confidence.

Scott is one of those players that needs to gel with his linemates and after Christmas he was playing with new lines seems like constantly and maybe going at about 60% effects from injury that bumped him from World Junior Team and also the stress of constantly hearing his name in trade rumors. If Scott can stay healthy it could be the best non trade improvement on team.

Haha, that's what I get for not remembering.

I just wasn't sure if he changed the lines again for the game in Saskatoon. I usually listen to the away games but I was too busy partying that night that I couldn't.

Good insight..... a healthy Glennie could be huge down the stretch!!

If we plan on making any kind of noise this post season and in May, he is going to have to be one of the best players this second half. Everyone has had high expectations of him coming into this season, especially putting the puck in the net. He has looked a lot better these past couple games. Hopefully he keeps it up and we can get guys back (Fehr, Wiebe) really soon and add Hamonic later next month.

I think us fans may have been a little hard on Glennie expecting an allstar performance every night. I agree his play was a concern on some nights, but so has the play of Schenn, Robak, Fehr, and a half dozen other bigger name players. It's a long season and all the guys will have their ups and downs because they are still developing. Its good to see he is hot now, and I'm sure he will be there down the road in the Memorial cup.

I'd have to disagree on Robak and Fehr. Schenn for some of the year was a little dissapointing but not to the extent of Glennie, just because he didn't seem to have the speed or not want to use it like he did last year. But both Glennie and Schenn have been much better lately, should be fun to see what the team is like tonight.

Not to make excuses I wonder how long at the begining of season Glennie was nursing the pulled groin remeber was pulled at Dallas rookie camp
