Bouma was injured in Chilliwack (lower body), but doesn't sound too serious at this point. Always great to see Henry contribute like he does. Segal wasn't busy but made at least one big stop to keep momentum with his team.

Giants Bruise Bruins
Vancouver 4 Chilliwack 2
Don Robinson

After almost a week off to rest and practice, the Giants started their first of three in three in Chilliwack for a home at home series versus the Bruins. Chilliwack drew first blood cashing in a power play marker in the first. The Giants finally replied with a very early second period goal, setting the tone for the middle frame. The second was all Vancouver as they potted two more allowing none against. The G’s padded that lead early in the third scoring their second PP goal of the game. The Bruins cashed in another PP late in the game, but by then it was too little too late. Both of the Bruins goals came from the back end.

Jesse Craige opened the scoring for the home team, potting the only goal of the opening period on the PP. Craig Cunningham started the second period onslaught, scoring his 34th of the season just 26 seconds into the middle frame. James Wright and David Musil garnered the helpers. Brent Henke took the lead with a goal later in the frame. Wright got his second assist on the night, with James Henry getting the other point. Henry notched his 19th of the season on the PP a few minutes later pushing the lead to two goals. Tomas Vincour and Milan Kytnar got the helpers. Vincour scored another one early in the third to stretch the gap, as Kytnar and Henry got the assists on the PP marker. Craige closed the gap with another PP goal, but that was as close as the Bruins would get in this one. A late fight did nothing to change the score as Brett Breitkreuz and Shayne Neigum squared off in a decent tussle. Mark Segal made a huge stop off of Ryan Howse up 4-2 to preserve the lead and the win. The game was fairly chippy throughout with the refs keeping the PP chances even.

The Giants out shot Chilliwack 26-19. They went 2 for 5 on their PP chances, while the Bruins did the same. I’m not sure how Henry doesn’t get a star nod getting a 1G and 2A, but he was a major component in the win to be sure. The Giants deadline acquisitions are looking better and better as they finally have a scoring euro back in the fold and those they got for depth continue to make their presence known. The Giants tangle with the Bruins again in Langley at the Langley Events Centre on Valentines Day. If your sweetie accompanies you to this game she’s a keeper. Giants are hoping to take the mini-series sweep. Puck drops at 5pm PST.
