Henry gets props tonight cashing in with extra ice-time with Bouma out of the line-up. Vincour continues to impress.

Giants Massacre Bruins
Vancouver 6 Chilliwack 1

Don Robinson

The Giants stomped on their Fraser Valley cousins in the second game, in back-to-back nights between the two teams at the Langley Events Centre. The G’s notched two in the first, two in the second and one in the third before the Bruins cracked Mark Segal’s shutout bid just shy of the middle point of the final frame. The Giants added one to close out their Valentines Day massacre of the Bears. A couple of good scraps in this one, but if last night was the Giants playing a solid game, tonight’s tilt was a dominant performance from the drop of the puck.

Tomas Vincour opened the scoring just 1:40 into the game. James Wright and JT Barnett got the helpers. Vincour scored another less than three minutes later, putting a power play marker past Braden Gamble who usually has had good fortunes versus the Giants but not on this night. Brett Lyon and Tim Traber dropped the mitts mid-first, with Lyon landing a few really good big shots, but Traber held in there despite the onslaught. Wright found the twine on the PP in the second padding the Giants lead, assisted by James Henry and Milan Kytnar. Brett Breitkreuz notched one a bit later, as the G’s spread the scoring around. Henry and Kytnar were in on this one as well. Cunningham got a PP marker in the third to push the lead to 5. Kevin Connauton got the lone helper. Sundher finally got on the score-sheet for the Bruins, getting a PP marker to slip by Segal and ruin his shutout bid. Gallagher rounded out the scoring in the game, with Nolan Toigo and Nathan Burns getting in on the points. Brandon Scholten and Jeff Einhorn had a nice heavyweight tilt to end the game, trading blows and thrilling the already overjoyed crowd.

The G-Men out-shot the Bruins 30-24 and went 3 for 3 on the PP, while allowing 1 on the Bruins 3 PP chances. Henry finally got the kudos he deserved the night before, tallying another three points in the game. With Bouma out he’s going to get some good ice time and he seems to be doing a lot with it the past couple of games. The Giants head down to Seattle to take on the struggling T-Birds. The Giants would love a sweep in the three games this weekend and have not fared well versus the US division so would like a chance to right that particular ship as well. The puck drops at 5pm PST in Kent..
