View Full Version : Team getting older? The math doesn't agree

;) I've read on a number of threads that the Raider team is supposedly older than last year. That we have gone from a young team to an old team. So out of curiousity, and because I have too much time on my hands, I checked this out, and I invite you to do the same. Last year's team at the end of the regular season, excluding McNeil because he only played 4 games (if you want to include him then include MacKenzie from this year who played the same number of games and is almost a year younger) was an average age of 18.04 years. I didn't include goaltenders for either year. Nearing the end of this year's regular season, the average team age is 18.19 years, showing very little difference between the two years. Last year's 2 main goalies averaged 18.5 years and this year the average is 19 years of age. I'm not sure what the average age is across the league for players, but I'm guessing that it might be very similar to what we have, I'd be interested to know. Of course a team's age can change more significantly from year to year, but in the case of PA, it didn't!

5th oldest team the league.....

Had to rub my eyes last night. McNeill on the first unit of a PP, and they scored 15 secs into the PP.

Tough night as a whole, and SC wins to boot.

Tied for third oldest with Saskatoon. Calgary and Brandon are older.

From the above stats, Portland, improving as they are, should be a force to be contended with.

Big and young!
My concern is that for the most part the older teams are leading their divisions and are comfortably in a playoff spot. Hmmmm.... doesn't look so good for PA. My guess is that being old and out of contention is not a good thing. Lets hope things turn around in the next 3 or 4 weeks!
