Brett Lyon gets his third of the season, Breitkreuz his 16th and Gallagher gets two (37,38) to reclaim the goal scoring lead on the team. Derek Tendler gets the start against his former team. The Giants weathered a bit of adversity and found a complete team game to get the win. Feels like the chemistry on this team continues to get stronger.

Giants Hold Pats
Vancouver 4 Regina 3

Don Robinson

The Giants had to come from behind twice in this one, reversing a two goal deficit before the end of the first to tie the game going into second; then getting two more after Regina once again took the lead in the middle frame. The game boasted three league leading scorers, with Craig Cunningham still holding onto his slim lead, putting two points on the board. Jordan Weal got two points as well and Eberle just the one. The points standings are now Cunningham 92, Weal 90, Eberle 89. It’s a tight race which could get tighter coming down the stretch. The Giants are faring well on the road so far and have points in their last ten games. Derek Tendler, acquired from Regina earlier in the season by the Giants was between the pipes for the G-Men, getting the win by turning away 35 of 38. The Giants tallied two unanswered, one in the second and one in third to take the slim victory. The Vancouver squad played a hard disciplined game, getting some production from their depth players.

Regina opened the scoring just past the mid-way mark of the period, when defenseman Myles Bell found the back of the net. They padded that lead just over a minute later on the PP, when Jordan Weal notched his first point of the game putting one past Tendler. The Giants battled back though, using one of their PPs to get the ball rolling. Brendan Gallagher found the net behind Damien Ketlo, with Kevin Connauton and Cunningham getting the helpers. Brett Lyon tied the game, working the puck past Ketlo off of some nice work by David Musil and Milan Kytnar. Weal scored his second of the game very early in the middle frame and from then on it was all Giants. Brett Breitkreuz tickled the twine off of a feed by James Henry, once again tying the game. Brendan Gallagher got the go ahead goal, which proved to be the game winner. Cunningham got his second point while Nolan Toigo got the other assist.

The Giants out shot the Pats 47-38. They went 1 for 5 on the PP, while the Pats were 1 for 3. This was the second game of four in five nights and another solid whole team win, with depth players being a big part of the victory. It was good to see Gallagher starting to find the net again, re-taking the team lead for goals from Cunningham. The Giants have a day off before taking on the Warriors in Moose Jaw on Friday. The puck drops at the crushed can at 7pm local time.
