The Hitmen won their 7th straight game last night in Edmonton. They beat the Oil Kings for the 5th time this year, 4-1. It was a very close game through 40 minutes. But the Hitmen exploded for 3 third period goals to open the game up and knock off the Oil Kings.

The first period was a period that the Hitmen would like to forget. They just seemed alittle off. They did get the first goal of the game on a power play goal from Del Cowan.

In the 2nd period, the Oil Kings tied the game up before the 5 minute mark. Again, it wasn't a good period for the Hitmen who took 6 minor penalties in the period but once again, special teams bailed the team out of trouble. The game was tied at 1 through 40.

In the third, the Hitmen seemed to have more jump in their legs and just over a minute into the period, Ian Schultz scored his 23rd of the season and the Hitmen never looked back. Michael Stone and Tyler Fiddler also scored for the Hitmen in the third period.

With the win, the Hitmen are now just 2 points from clinching top spot in the league again. It is really amazing to see how well this team is able to compete year after year, us Hitmen fans are really spoiled.

The Hitmen host Edmonton tomorrow night before wrapping up the regular season on Sunday afternoon vs the Rebels.
