Darcy Kuemper has joined the Minnesota Wild's AHL affiliate and played very well in lifting the Aeros to 2 victories last weekend over two of the better teams in the AHL Western conference with wins over Chicago and Texas. I just figured you might want to know...

Hopefully this helps him get a contract with Minnesota!

Is Hackett signed in Minny? I imagine he would be ahead of Kuemper in your depth charts.

Good to hear! Maybe this means he has his head back in the game?

The Wild signed Hackett to a 3-year deal. As for Kuemper it sure seems like it; unfortunately for him the Wild and the Aeros are going nowhere in terms of the playoffs so his pro stint will be short.

Either way usually when a team signs a goaltender like this, they want him playing every day and being the #1 man. If Hacket goes to Houston, he'll likely be the #1 and Kuemper will be re-assigned to the ECHL where he will hopefully be the starter. Either way they're gonna want him playing every day and being the starter whether thats in red deer or houston or else where, so he could be back.

So far it seems like he will be back. He has not yet signed with Minnesota. He has just signed and Amateur Try out agreement with the Houston Aeros. Ferrero is the same way with the Grand Rapids Griffins.

Only real difference is that Kuemper can actually play in the AHL/ECHL next season, but Ferraro can't. If he does return, it would be the first NHL drafted player to play for us in their overage season (while the team still owns their rights) since Ummmm... Terry Ryan?

Ferrero is staying with Grand Rapids right now. Not sure where he will be going now that Grand Rapids is out of the playoffs. Willie Coetzee has been re-assigned to Red Deer as a result of this. They both played in two games with 0 points. So there might be a chance that Willie will be here next year.

According to AHL web....Ferraro released of ATO, Coetzee reassigned from GR via Detroit to Red Deer.....just as he was assigned to GR from Red Deer via Detroit....just a manner of how they have to "term" the assignments and reassignments....Coetzee still attends Red Wings camp in Sept, then assigned to GR if he impresses enough and if they feel he needs more work....back to RD - hope it makes sense ;-)) Nothing set in stone yet - all a waiting game until after Red Wings camp

It means Amateur try out agreement. It just means they haven't signed with the NHL club. Kuemper is on the same thing with Houston.
