DAY 1 NOTES
- Former Everett defenseman Jeff Regier is in camp on a tryout. Regier, Everett's second-round pick in the 2006 bantam draft, was traded to Prince George in October of 2008 in exchange for Dale Hunt. Regier left the Cougars during last preseason and ended up playing for the Surrey Eagles of the BCHL.
- Left wing Josh Winquist is not participating in camp. Winquist is still recovering from offseason shoulder surgery. He's about two weeks away from being cleared for physical contact.
- Four draft picks from the past two bantam drafts are not in camp. The biggest name is defenseman seth Jones, a 2009 first rounder who committed to the U.S. National Team Development Program over the summer. Also not here are 2009 eighth rounder Josh Racek, 2009 10th rounder Rhys Gilbert, and 2010 10th rounder Cody DePourcq.
- The veteran forwards showed some good speed during the morning practice.
- Among the standouts during the rookie scrimmages were forwards Ryan Chynoweth (showed a good all-around game), Michael Bell (size, feistiness and chipped in offensively) and Brett Boehm (flashed some smooth stickhandling skills).
