Is he attending camp this year? He was such a promising prospect, and a 1st round pick for us. Then he came back, had 5 pts in 30+ games and over 200 PIM's.

Yeah I seen his stats in Junior B also , and pure penalty minutes galore!! I was pretty surprised actually as Im 99% sure the Wheat Kings werent drafting a tough guy when they drafted Regier or so they expected. And in Junior B, Im sure with that type of penalty minutes there were a few ugly affairs especially in Junior B Im sure he was involved in some pretty wild brawls haha

He was 3rd overall in penalty minutes in the Pacific International Junior B Hockey League. 224 PIM's in 32 games with just 8 points!

We drafted Schenn

The bantam draft is such a crap shoot since you are drafting 14 year olds. Hoping they grow and develop in there 15 year old season and by the time they turn 16 you hope you have a guy that is 6 foot or better and is still at the top of his peer group.

The OHL and Q draft guys as they are coming into the league not a year a way. Makes it easier to determine who can and will make an impact right away.

Looking at the 2007 bantam draft no way a guy like Petrovic or McIlrath are drafting in the 2nd and 3rd rounds. No way a guy like Ferland goes undrafted either so ya.

Ive said that for YEARS now that the WHL needs to switch to the OHL format when they draft their players. That extra year is huge, allowing some of these kids to play against kids 2 years older than them while playing AAA. Guys like Regier, Sanfred King, Jordan Hale, Derek Robinson, Mike Cann, Ryan McDonald, Jeff Topilko, Tyler Harder...all 1st and 2nd round picks to the Wheat Kings that NEVER should or would have if the WHL had the same format as the OHL and waited that extra year. And guys like Mark Stone, Brendan Walker, Jesse Sinatynski, Colby Robak, Nathan Green, Jay Fehr, Daryl Boyle...all would have gone MUCH higher than what they were drafted. Some of those guys were 10th-13th rounders!! Then you can look at Mark Derlago, Matt Calvert, Mike Ferland, Darren Bestland, Del Cowan, Andrew Clark..there is absolutely no way in hell these guys get passed over in the WHL draft if its the other format.
