Rockets press release:

The Kelowna Rockets announce that Kyle St. Denis will remain on injured reserve until Christmas as he continues to battle back from multiple concussions.

St. Denis, along with his parents, recently met with two specialists, both of whom recommended he avoid body contact. The family then decided it was best for Kyle to take a break from hockey.

St. Denis will remain on injured reserve until Christmas when, if he is feeling better, he will be re-evaluated. In the meantime the veteran forward will begin investigating educational opportunities and spending time at home in Trail.

During a three year playing career St. Denis electrified Kelowna crowds with his energetic style and offensive flair. At 17-years-old he scored 40 points but both of his previous two seasons were ended by injury.

Gregg Drinnan was told late Thursday night that F Kyle St. Denis, 20, has been released off the injured list by the Kelowna Rockets. St. Denis has had multiple concussions and didn’t get medical clearance to start this season with the Rockets. From Trail, B.C., he had 22 points in 22 games in 2008-09 and 22 points in 26 games last season. Of course, the games played is the key statistic. Obviously, he has the skill to play in the WHL but the concussions just wouldn’t let him.

Gregg Drinnan was also told that his junior A rights belonged to the BCHL's Vernon Vipers, who have dealt them to the Victoria Grizzlies. St. Denis, however, wants to play with the Smoke Eaters, whose roster includes his brother Travis, who has 39 points in 22 games.
