Zero for nine followed by zero for four.

The Kelowna Rockets shot themselves in the foot yet again, squandering no less than nine power-play chances in a 4-1 loss to the Vancouver Giants in WHL action on Friday night at Pacific Coliseum. The loss pushed Kelowna‘s start to the 2010-11 season to 0-4.

"That pretty much summed up the game," said Rockets head coach Ryan Huska, referring to Kelowna‘s 0-for-9 effort. The Giants, meanwhile, went 3-for-6.

So far this season, Kelowna is a miserable 2-for-24 this season with the extra man. That translates into an ugly 8.3 per cent.

"Generally, your power play is made up of older guys, and our older guys have to step up," continued Huska. "It was frustrating at times, because at times I thought we played OK. But, again, it comes down to 0-for-9, and that says a lot."

Marek Tvrdon, Matt MacKay, Brendan Gallagher and Randy McNaught scored for Vancouver (4-3-0-0), which led 2-1 and 3-1 at the period breaks. Colton Sissons, with his first WHL goal at 10:33 of the first period, replied for Kelowna (0-4-0-0), the only team left in the 22-team league without a point.

Adam Brown made 31 saves for the Rockets, while Mark Segal turned aside 30 shots for the Giants.
