The Wheat Kings just posted on twitter that Deserres has cleared waivers, but nothing on Schneider.

Right after I post there is no official news yet, the WK's update their website to detail both the Deserres news and that Schneider traded to Regina as broken by Boltz

Brandon, Manitoba – The Western Hockey League’s Brandon Wheat Kings solved their overage question Sunday afternoon by trading 20-year old local product Mark Schneider to the Regina Pats in exchange for 18-year old forward Dominick Favreau.

A former member of the AAA Midget Wheat Kings, Schneider is in his fourth WHL season, having started his WHL career with the Kamloops Blazers in 2007. The 6’1” 190 lb. Schneider appeared in three games this season and was held without a point. During the 2009-10 campaign, the veteran bluelinder scored nine goals and 21 points in 60 games.

In 140 career WHL games, Schneider has scored thirteen goals and 27 points while accumulating 61 minutes in penalties.

In Favreau, Brandon is getting a former first round pick (13th overall selection in 2007 WHL Bantam Draft). While the 5’10” 185 lb Martensville, Saskatchewan native has played in just one game this season, he is entering his third WHL campaign.

In 57 games with the Pats last winter, Favreau had two goals and three points. During his first two WHL seasons, he has scored three goals, 8 points and accumulated 75 penalty minutes in 114 games.

Favreau is expected to join the club early this week and could be in the lineup Friday night when the Wheat Kings close out a 3-game home stand against the visiting Swift Current Broncos.

“We look forward to adding Dominic to our line-up,” says Brandon general manager and coach Kelly McCrimmon. “ He is a good young player who needs a change to jump start his career.”

In other Wheat King news, 20-year old goalkeeper Jacob DeSerres has cleared WHL waivers and will now join the Saint John Sea Dogs of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.

A Calgary product, DeSerres was obtained by the Wheat Kings last October from Seattle and helped backstop Brandon to within one win of the 2010 MasterCard Memorial Cup Championship.

In 32 games with the Wheat Kings last season, the former T-Bird compiled a sparkling 2.70 goals against average and two shutouts.

In 124 career WHL games, the former Philadelphia Flyers’ draft pick has posted nine shutouts and a 2.79 goals against mark.

“This finalizes the twenty year old process, with both players earning an opportunity to play as twenty years olds in the CHL,” McCrimmon went on to say. “Mark will play an important role in Regina, and Jake will get a great opportunity on a very strong Saint John team. We thank both players for their contributions to our organization, they are great people, and we wish them nothing but the best in the future.”

Sunday’s moves leaves the Wheat Kings with three 20-year olds including captain Shayne Wiebe on their active roster. Joining Wiebe as Brandon’s overage contingent this season will be defenceman Darren Bestland and right-winger David Toews, who is currently on the sidelines nursing a high ankle sprain.

While the Keystone Centre box office is closed Sunday and Monday for Thanksgiving, it will be open again first thing Tuesday morning and tickets to Friday’s game can be purchased then. Fans can also order online at ticketmaster.ca or by calling 726-3555. Friday’s game will be the Wheat Kings final home game in three weeks.

Dominic was never able to get going in Regina, but Brandon and especially Kelly has a history of taking everyone else's scraps and turning them into great players. Hopefully this is another case for the Wheat Kings. pretty good trade for Brandon to dump a 20-year old for a player who Kelly could turn into the first rounder he was supposed to be, not to mention Dominic will be around for a couple more years.
