Bruins Bury Giants
Vancouver 3 Chilliwack 6

Ryan Howse scored a natural hat-trick in the second period, two on the PP, (one of which was a 5 on 3 advantage) adding to the Bruins one goal in the first to put the G-Men on the ropes and down 4-0. The three goals came in just a 58 second span. The Giants battled back with two in the second with Cain Franson’s first WHL goal and Dalton Sward’s 4th. Brendan Jensen who started the game for the Giants was pulled in favour of Mark Segal after the Bruins 4th marker. The Bruins added two more early in the third to put in the coffin nails. Credit the Giants for not completely laying down as Cunningham, who had a three-point night, scored one in the third to get it close, but the G’s could just not battle all the way back. Once again the Giants struggled taking penalties and in this game they paid the big price. The G’s have lost three straight now, something good teams usually don’t do. John Becanic in the post-game interview claimed that the Giants were impressing him with their effort and work ethic, but figures they could play smarter at times and try to stay out of the box.

Rookie Watch: Matt Bellerive was back in the line-up. Cain Franson scored his first WHL goal and Dalton Sward added another goal to his tally.

Fight Night: Wes Vannieuwenhuizen padded his PIM stats fighting Zach Habschied

The shots were 31 apiece for the teams. The Bruins went 2 for 7 on the PP, while the Giants went 1 for 6. Gallagher extended his consecutive point streak to 12 games, Cunningham added three points to his tally pushing his season total to 22, continuing to the lead the league with one point over Ty Rattie from Portland. Gallagher is in third place with 19 points. The Giants would love to have that minute in the second back, as other than that out burst, they played a determined game early without scoring success. Jensen allowed 4 goals on 17 shots before being pulled and Segal allowed 2 on 14. The Giants spread the minuses around the line-up, with the only two –2s being Gallagher and Musil. The game marks the Giants first regulation loss to a BC Division opponent this season. Their next game comes on Wednesday in Kelowna, puck drops at 7:05pm.
