Jake Trask

Jake Trask is a former 3rd round selection in the 2006 WHL bantam draft by the Kamloops Blazers. It was thought that in Trask's draft season, he would be selected in the 4th-5th round and become basically a 2nd/3rd line player in the WHL that may score 20-25 goals one season. Well, fast forward a few seasons and Track will be given that opportunity with the Saskatoon Blades playing on the right side with Benson and Dziurzynski.

Trask is a hard worker who does well in a fore checking system, something that the Kamloops Blazers do not flourish in and haven't the past few seasons. Trask is a good puck handler who sees the ice well. One of the things Trask has had to work on since his bantam draft season is moving his feet when he doesn't have the puck instead of standing still and watching. He could improve his hockey sence in that regard.

In his Midget hockey season, Trask was one of the leaders in the smaaahl scoring 32-36-68 in 44 games. He was named to the all-star team and scored twice. Trask that season was named to the league all-star team along with the likes of Darcey Kuemper, Brandon Gormley and Tyler Fiddler!

In the Mac's midget hockey tournament in Calgary that year, Jake had 1-4-5 in 4 games.

The past couple years in Kamloops, Jake was eased in playing mostly on the 4th line with the odd game on the 3rd line. As a 17 year old rookie, Jake had 10-7-17 and last year fired home 13 goals and 22 points in 68 games. This year, it was apparant as a 19 year old veteran in the WHL, that Jake wanted to display and show his talents and will get that chance finally in Saskatoon. Will he score that 20-25 goals this season in a 2nd line role in Saskatoon, lets find out.
