Bacek to Join Americans

Kennewick, WA - Tri-City Americans today are pleased to announce that 19-year-old forward Igor Bacek (pronounced: Bass-ick) has agreed to join the club for the upcoming 2005-06 campaign.

Bacek was originally drafted by the Americans in the 2004 CHL Import Draft chose to remain in his native Slovakia for the 2004-05 season. However, through conversations with Igor and his agent, Americans vice president/general manager Bob Tory received a commitment for Bacek to report for the upcoming season.

The 5'11", 190-pound Bacek played last year for the Bratislava Slovan Harvard JR team in his native Slovakia. He tallied 10 goals, 29 points in 30 games while amassing 60 penalty minutes. In three playoff games, Igor had two goals and two assists. Bacek also participated with the senior men's team, playing with former NHL star Zdeno Ciger.

"Igor is an exciting player who has good speed and plays a physical game," said Tory. "He will certainly be a welcome addition to our forward lines. With his addition and that of Alex Aldred, this will add to our scoring punch."

Let's hope he produces more than Gracik and maybe gets him to produce. They were former line mates.
