WOW!!!

A 3rd round pick for this player? At some point the Raiders are going to have to decide whether they want to re-build, build from within or load up. It seems like a very scattered plan, if you want to in fact call it a plan!

I can only assume that this is get them into good position for a pending trade of one of their other older defensemen. Otherwise this deal makes no sense.

Unless Bourhis is moved up to forward to replace RJ Reed???

If I understood some other comments on this site, Reed had been sitting as many games as he played. Wouldn't the person that he was already sitting in favor of just get more games in?

Not in Raiderland. Bruno falls in and out of love with players. He'll always keep a couple in the stands, or warming the bench, so he can bully his players with the perceived threat of being replaced. Of course it gets tired and players ask for releases and trades.

He will help our PP. He has more goals scored this year in 11 games then all of our D-men put together.

There's no room for him. He has to make it out of the stands first.:D

Rockets move Corbin to Raiders

The Kelowna Rockets have dealt away another veteran defenceman.

The Rockets sent Antoine Corbin, 18, to the Prince Albert Raiders in exchange for a third round bantam draft pick in 2012.

"Antoine was looking for more ice time than we were prepared to give him in light of the play of some of our younger players," says Rockets President/General Manager, Bruce Hamilton.

Corbin has suited up in just 11 of the Rockets first 21 games.

He has been a healthy scratch the past seven games.

Corbin had seemingly lost his job on the blueline to 16-year-old Damon Severson and 17-year-old MacKenzie Johnston.

So for a guy who is a healthy scratch for the last 7 games we give up a 3rd rounder, which the way we're going will be an early one.

And its not like the Rockets are a powerhouse this year. But hey, see what their president says: "in light of the play of some of our younger players," says Rockets President/General Manager, Bruce Hamilton.

The Rockets are happy to play their young guys, which is one of the reasons they are competitive year after year after year. They don't sit. Non productive veterans do sit, or are moved out to teams with stupid GMs who'll throw around a third round pick!

BTW, Sabes point about all our d-men collectively being outscored by Corbin is true and speaks volumes about our d-men and crappy PP.

But still .... we hugely overpaid for a guy who didn't fit into the Rockets plans. A third rounder should be a top 4 defenseman ..... and if he is a discard for Kelowna, holy crap we must be terrible if he's top 4 here. Way to go Bruno!

4 points in 2 games. Kid might be worth that 3rd and then some.

proved he can play on the pp, but that was expected. im curious about physical play and defensive zone play

but the strong start is quite welcome

a 3rd rounder for a 18yr old who could very well be there for almost 3 seasons is a easy price to pay as we all know the WHL Bantam Draft is a crap shoot at best.

Sometimes players find there way more after being traded. Put into a different situation. Its all about timing & what team you are selected to. Sometimes being put on a weaker team where u can get moer playing time is the best thing for a kids development. Give the kid a chance before knocking him & the deal itself.

I bet any money that the 3rd rd pick u guys sent for him doesnt even crack a WHL roster in 2 yrs
