WHLers trying to make Team Canada

Well, world junior camp is currently underway.

Which guys have the best chance at making the team?

Schenn is a lock, but who else should slide in? The Western league is definitely well represented at camp.

It sounded like Curtis Hamilton had a great game tonight in the 2nd intrasquad game.

First cuts come tomorrow morning.

Too bad that the OHL coach cut all WHL players this morning. Among those cut are Linden Vey, Brendan Gallagher, Brayden McNabb, Ryan Howse and Brad Ross.

To be fair it wasn't "all WHLers" that were cut.

Joey Hishon, Garrett Wilson, Reilly Smith and Jesse Blacker were all cut too.

Most WHL fans probably expected this type of result with the first cuts. An OHL coach is likely going to go with guys he is a little more familiar with. There isn't anything wrong with that, that's just how these things go sometimes.

To be fair not 1 of those guys were really high on Team Canada's list anyways... they were there for competion & thats all. Team Canada brass already has like 90% of the roster filled in with the final 10% with guys on the bubble who are getting a longer look.

They bring in many guys cuz the bubble guys could be over taken by virutally anyone. It just how it goes, its all about compete level. Personally out of those WHLers who got cut the only 1 id truely give a legit shot at making the team was Howse.

McNabb was the one that really surprised me. I thought he had a really good chance to make the team. Howse I thought had a decent chance too.

WHL well represented on the team this year. 9 out of the 22 spots, more than any other league.
