Former Kelowna Rockets defenceman, Tyler Myers has hit the jackpot.
Myers, the NHL's Rookie of the Year in 2010 inked a new contract with the Buffalo Sabers Thursday.
The seven-year deal is reportedly worth $38.5M and includes a $10M signing bonus when the deal officially kicks in July 1, 2012.
During his rookie campaign, Myers scored 11 times while adding 37 assists.
His production slipped during last year's sophomore season where he managed 10 goals and 27 assists.
In a recent interview, Myers admitted he struggled early last season because he tried to do too much.
Myers was selected in the first round, 12th overall in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.
He played parts of four seasons with the Rockets from 2005 to 2009 scoring 17 goals and 60 assists.
The 6'8" defenceman led the Rockets to the 2009 Memorial Cup where they lost to the Windsor Spitfires.
