The Prince Albert Raiders have traded 20-year-old centre Charles Wells to the Portland Winterhawks in exchange for a fourth-round draft pick in the 2013 Western Hockey League Bantam Entry Draft.

Wells was acquired by the Raiders via a trade with the Seattle Thunderbirds, in January 2011. During his 2011-2012 season with the Raiders, the Edmonton, Alberta product scored 1 goal and added 8 assists in 22 games played. In 2 pre-season appearances Wells notched 5 assists and had a plus/minus rating of plus 3.

“We wish Charles good luck in Portland and in all of his future hockey endeavours,” said Raiders Head Coach and General Manager Bruno Campese. “This move helps us reduce the amount of 20-year-olds on our roster to four with Jonathon Parker still at the Buffalo Sabres training camp.”
