Kennewick, WA - Tri-City Americans today are pleased to announce the hiring of
Terry Bangen as its new assistant general manager/director of player personnel
for the hockey club.

It's the second term with the Americans for Bangen, who served in the dual role
of assistant coach/assistant general manager under Don Hay from 1998-2000. He
has worked as a scout for the NHL's Central Scouting Bureau over the past two
seasons.

Bangen's solid resume has found him serving as assistant coach of three
Memorial Cup Championship teams (1992, 1994 and 1995) during his tenure with
the WHL's Kamloops Blazers from 1989-95 while serving under head coaches Ken
Hitchcock, Tom Renney and Hay. He also served one season as assistant coach of
the NHL's Vancouver Canucks in 1996-97 under Renney.

"I'm very excited about the opportunity," said Bangen. "I made the decision to
leave coaching a few years ago and move into player personnel and I'm happy to
get the chance to be the assistant general manager and director of player
personnel for this organization."

"I am thrilled with all the positives surrounding the club," continued Bangen.
"Stability has been a concern in the past and now with all the positives of the
new ownership group that are happening I'm really glad to be a part of that."

"I am excited and pleased to bring on a professional like Terry," said
Americans vice president/general manager Bob Tory. "His hockey experience and
knowledge is second to none. Not only will he provide leadership and direction
to our scouting staff, but he will be a tremendous asset for the hockey team in
an administrative level as well."

"He has major junior experience with both the Kamloops Blazers and the
Americans," continued Tory. "This along with his pro experiences with the
Vancouver Canucks, New York Rangers, the NHL's Scouting Bureau plus his
international experience with Hockey Canada made him the perfect choice for our
franchise."
