I Dunno about you Guys, but I thought that the Boys looked pretty Good against Kamloops, and if they can continue with the offense they showed, and tighten up the "D" somewhat, they WILL WIN !! But, again, you gotta stay out of the Box.

We need that EARLY goal, and a full 60 minutes hard checking, fast skating organized TEAM Play.

GO ROYALS GO !!!!! :groovy:

From Kelowna

The Victoria Royals defeated the Kelowna Rockets 2-1 on Friday night in Kelowna, in front of 6,074 fans at Prospera Place.
Robin Soudek scored both Victoria goals, including the winning goal on a 5-on-3 power play midway through the third period.

Colton Sissons had the lone Rockets marker, his 15th of the season, while Jordon Cooke took the loss in net, facing 26 shots.

Kelowna is back in action Saturday night at Prospera Place when they take on the Prince George Cougars.

Kevin Sundher and Robin Soudek are sort of the Green Hornet and Kato of the Victoria Royals.

When scoring ace Sundher is blanked, as he was Friday night in Kelowna despite three breakaways, there is always the sidekick.

Soudek scored his 15th and 16th goals of the season to propel the Royals (12-15-2) to a much-needed 2-1 Western Hockey League victory over the Rockets before 6,074 fans.

It was only Victoria’s second win in 11 games and couldn’t have come at a better time against a rival (11-13-3) that was 6-2-1 in its last nine games heading into last night. The win also snapped Victoria’s six-game winless streak.

The best chance of the scoreless first period was a breakaway by Sundher but the puck was rolling on him. There would be a couple of more clear-cut prime opportunities to come but to no avail as Sundher had his five-game points streak halted. But that didn’t stop Sundher from being named the game’s second star behind Soudek.

Soudek finally opened scoring at 8:02 of the second period to end a two-game personal drought. Game third-star and Kelowna captain Colton Sissons, the highest-rated WHL forward in Central Scouting’s preliminary ranking for the 2012 NHL draft, tied it 1-1 at 15:48 on the power play. Soudek’s power-play goal at 8:12 of the third period proved the winner.

“He [Soudek] is an upfront guy, especially on the power play, and is good at screens and gets those kinds of goals,” said Victoria head coach and GM Marc Habscheid.

“He had been getting away from that for awhile and it’s good to see him getting those greasy goals.”

Victoria’s Keith Hamilton made 26 saves in victory while Jordon Cooke made 24 in defeat for Kelowna.

“Keith made the stops he should have,” said Habscheid. “Overall, it was a good learning game for our young guys. The defence was very good tonight — both in defending and moving the puck.”

Both clubs wanted to send messages early with two fights breaking out before the game was five minutes old with Victoria’s Tim Traber and Kelowna’s Mitchell Chapman engaging and then Jesse Zgraggen of the Royals and Tyrell Goulbourne a few moments later. The ill feeling spilled into the second period with Austin Carroll and Colton Heffley hooking up in a heavyweight tilt.

The Royals weathered 17 minutes without captain Hayden Rintoul over the second and third periods after he accrued 17 minutes in penalties, including an instigator minor, fighting major and 10-minute misconduct in challenging Kelowna’s Damon Severson after Rintoul took exception to a hit absorbed by Royals teammate Jamie Crooks.

The Royals are in Kamloops tonight at 7 to face the Blazers (19-7-1), who are on a five-game winning streak following Friday’s 5-4 victory over the Prince George Cougars. A statistic more pertinent to the Royals is that the Blazers have won all four games against Victoria this season.

“Kamloops is a good team,” admitted Habscheid. “But we played them twice at home earlier this week and could have won both those games.”

With a bit of bounce heading in. Winning will do that to you.

“Our players are probably feeling 20 pounds lighter just because of the win here in Kelowna,” said Habscheid.
