The Prince Albert Raiders have announced that 20-year-old right-winger Kellan Tochkin will be out for 4-5 months with a broken wrist.

Tochkin will be seeing a specialist in Vancouver in the coming days, and is set to undergo surgery next week.

The Raiders acquired the Abbotsford, British Columbia native in late October from the Medicine Hat Tigers. In 29 games with the green and gold this season, Tochkin scored 14 goals and 15 assists for 29 points while recording a plus 7 rating. In his WHL career, the Vancouver Canucks prospect has recorded 243 points, including 91 goals and 152 assists, in 256 games.

I wonder if it's a typo? 4-5 weeks? If 4-5 months, that in effect ends his junior career, which is a sad way to end it. Also will miss him on the ice.

it sounds like this was actually something that happened last year, he was able to play through it and the pain never really happened until last week. had an MRI and now requires surgery, it is Months not weeks is what I hear. that is a terrible way to end his junior career, wish him all the best in his days after the Raiders.

Bad news, but there is a silver lining. This should give the Raiders the opportunity to use another 17 year old (Danyuk) on the 2nd line. It should also give the Raiders a excuse to use Gardiner and Vanstone for the rest of the year.

They would have to wait until their seasons are done with their respective teams and with both in playoff positions, it may not happen.

Wonder if they call up someone like joey Santucci, Mike Lorange or Kevin Miller

A sad way to finish a WHL career, to be sure.

Good for Danyluk if he gets a chance on a better line.

Good for whoever gets called up.

29 points in 29 games.

Journeyman work, Mr. Tochkin. You will be missed.

Miller still won't sign to play in the WHL, Lorange(are you serious?) the guy wouldn't even show up to camp, and is only playing high school hockey in winnipeg(not even as good a level as AA midget here) he is probably done with the raiders and Santucci, gardiner and vanstone all have their own teams in playoff runs, the Raiders can't just call them up and run with them, they have commitments to other organizations to fullfil. they can each only play 5 games as AP underagers and both the Contacts and Legionaires are in the middle of playoff runs where that organization may excuse them here or there but not for 5 in a row or anything crazy like that.
