The Vancouver Giants played it close to the vest on Friday in Kennewick, Washington, allowing the Tri-City Americans to score just two goals. Unfortunately for the G-Men, they could only muster a last gasp marker and lost 2-1.

Ams' captain Marcus Jonasen beat Giants' netminder Marek Schwarz at 6:27 of the first period, before Matt Schneider scored what turned out to be the game-winner on a shorthanded breakaway at 12:48. Schwarz made 33 stops in the game, many of the spectacular variety, and kept his team close for the entire night.

Gilbert Brule got hold of a bad-angle rebound to pull Vancouver within a goal, but his career high 26 th tally of the season came a little too late. Defenseman Andrej Meszaros and gritty winger Cam Cunning got the assists on the goal at 19:58 of the third period after the Giants had pulled Schwarz in favor of a sixth attacker. Tri-City goalie Carey Price saved the first 32 Vancouver shots, but couldn't hold the G-Men off when they buzzed the net in the late stages.

Brule is coming off an historical performance in the Home Hardware NHL/CHL Top Prospects Game, staged at the Pacific Coliseum this past Wednesday. The WHL's leading scorer, with 60 points on the year, collected a hat trick – the first-ever achieved in the marquee event – while adding an assist as the most exciting player on the ice, pacing his team, coached by the legendary Don Cherry, to an 8-4 win.

Vancouver was forced to play without team captain Triston Grant , sidelined with a hip injury and considered day-to-day. His notorious toughness wasn't nearly as missed as his offense against the Americans, as the Philadelphia Flyers' 2004 ninth round draft pick has 18 goals, third most on the team.

The Giants will stay over in Southern Washington State on Friday, set to practice there on Saturday before heading to Portland for a 5PM contest on Sunday at the Rose Garden. Through 47 games, the club sports a 25-19-1-2 record, good for 53 points and third spot in the BC Division.

Gee, seems to me Both Tri-city and Seattle have our number this year. :(

Seattle vs Vancouver -0 wins out of 5 Games, 3 GF, 17 GA in those 5 games.
Tri-City vs Vancouver -0 wins out of 2 games, 1 GF, 8 GA in those 2 games.

Just kind of Scary.
