I thought that we could start a discussion on what the priorities for this years draft will be, and who we think could fill them. I think that with the success of our drafting d-men over the last few years that maybe we need to pick up a high end forward with our first pick this year. It would also be nice to see a blue-chip goalie at some point that we could develop into a 17 year old starter and be around for a few years. Anyone else have thoughts?

I haven't heard a lot about the players in this draft so I can really comment on names at this point.

The draft appears to be very forward heavy at the top. However if the best player is a defenseman, you take him. Best player possible and let the rest work itself out (especially when these guys are still a few years away from contributing).

Here's our spots in the draft:

Round 1 - 5th overall
Round 2 - 7th, 29th overall
Round 3 - 7th, 51st overall & 10th, 54th overall from Eakin trade
Round 4 - 7th, 73rd overall
Round 5 - no pick, traded to Seattle for Ryan Aasman in Oct 2010
Round 6 - no pick, traded to Vancouver for Levi Bews in Jan
Round 7 - 7th, 139th overall
Round 8 - no pick, traded to Vancouver for Eric Walker in Jan

After round 8 we continue to pick 7th. Broncos still owe Seattle a pick for Erik Fleming. I wonder if Lamb will trade one of the third round picks for Fleming or did his stock drop by being a healthy scratch for all but one of the last 12 games of the season?

Incredibly late to the party, but the draft seemed to go well I hear.
