Silvertips Acquire John Lammers From Lethbridge

Everett, WA – July 11th, 2005: The Everett Silvertips and the Lethbridge Hurricanes came to terms on an off-season deal earlier today. The Everett Silvertips acquired left winger John Lammers and a 2006 4th Round Bantam Pick from the Lethbridge Hurricanes for right winger Curtis Billsten, Keegan Bourelle (Silvertips 2004 2nd Round Pick, 27th Overall) and a 2006 5th Round Bantam Pick.

Lammers posted 17 goals and 30 assists for 47 points in 66 games with the Hurricanes last season. The Langley, BC native has tallied 55 goals and 69 assists in his three year Western Hockey League career. At the 2004 National Hockey League Entry Draft, Lammers was selected by the Dallas Stars in the 3rd Round (86th Overall) last summer. In April of 2004, Lammers was the captain for Team Canada at the 2004 Under-18 World Championships.

“We have been really pleased with the discipline, dedication and defensive abilities with our team in the last two years but to get to the next level, we need to boost the offensive side to our game and Lammers is a proven goal scorer in the WHL with 55 goals over the last three years in the league,” Silvertips Director of Hockey Operations and Head Coach Kevin Constantine said. “As always, it is difficult to give up a player like Curtis that was an integral part of the hockey club the last two years, but as we saw with the Leavitt/Annesley trade last year, to acquire good players, you have to be willing to give up a good player as well.”

The Everett Silvertips will begin their third Western Hockey League season in September.
