Tues blog "Taking Note" Gregg Drinnan's blog has Andrew playing with Peterborough Petes in the O The OHL web site does not have him on the roster yet but the team has only 2 20 year olds, so they have room.
Good for Andrew at the least he will get another year of scholarship eligibility.

The Peterborough Petes have claimed Regina Pats overage right winger Andrew Rieder off waivers.

The six-foot, 175-pound Regina native recorded 13 goals, 12 assists for 25 points in 52 games last season. He had 35 penalty minutes and was a +8.

“From what we've seen on video and reports we've got from our western contacts we believe he can be an asset to our team,” said Petes' head coach Mike Pelino.

The Pats already committed their three overage spots and waived Rieder through the WHL. Once he cleared waivers there he became available for OHL teams to put in a claim.

Rieder will arrive in Peterborough on Sunday and practice with the club for the first time on Monday.

Pelino said the reports on Rieder suggest he's a hard working player, a good team guy, an excellent penalty killer and possesses enough touch around the net to chip in some goals.

Pelino said one WHL general manager told him he would have claimed Rieder if he didn't already have three overage players and the Petes wouldn't be wasting their time giving him a tryout.

“He's the type of player who can help give a team an identity because of his work ethic,” said Pelino. “We're short bodies right now because of injuries and we expect he'll be able to help us.”

Rieder will likely make his Petes' debut Thursday when the London Knights visit the Memorial Centre.
