Liam Liston Retires

The Vancouver Giants announced today the retirement of goaltender Liam Liston.

Liston has opted to retire from hockey and pursue his studies in obtaining a Law Degree at the University of Alberta.

The St. Albert native was acquired by the Giants in the offseason from the Lethbridge Hurricanes for two 2013 bantam draft picks.

The Giants would like to thank Liam for his hard work and dedication to the team in his time here and wish him the best of luck in his studies.

sounds pretty suspect to me. happy to see him gone - odd that he is "retiring" - maybe he decided to do the right thing and do what the coaching staff couldn't do themselves. Good fortune to Liam at school.

He was a goner either way. Essentially he did the team a favor by ridding them of the task of trying to find a place for him to play. Likely somewhere outside of the WHL.

he'll need a regular degree first, so that dream is down the road and a bit of boondoggle imo - it was just the correct thing to say -- He's going to need to earn an undergraduate degree before working toward law - a 19 yr old doesn't just jump into a law degree.
