On Tuesday, the Prince Albert Raiders announced they’ve renewed the contracts of their general manager Bruno Campese and director of player personnel Dale Derkatch.

Both are two-year contracts with an option year, which will keep them with the organization through the 2015-2016 season.

Campese started out with the organization as head coach in 2007 and moved on into the general manager position in 2008. Since then game attendance has raised from 2,119 in 2007-2008 to 2,674 in the past season.

“The Raiders Board is very happy with the progress Bruno has realized in the General Manager position in our organization,” said Raiders president Dale McFee in a news release. “As a hockey club we continue to progress and the board was unanimous in their approval of the contract for Bruno.”

Derkatch has been vital in building the Raiders over the past three seasons during the WHL Bantam Draft.

“We are pleased to have Dale remain with the organization,” said Campese in a news release. “Dale and our scouting staff have done a very good job with the WHL Bantam Draft and have made significant progress with our protected list.”

Not withstanding my many reservations about Bruno expressed over the past couple of seasons; this is a time to congratulate both Bruno and Dale for achieving some measurable success and clearly having the support of the Raiders Board of Directors. Now let's hope that the Board's confidence will prove to be deserved over the next couple of seasons!
