Prepare for the veterans to get all the icetime, the young guys relegated to spot duty and/or dman playing as wingers on the 4th line eg Nikkel/Kuzeck. Boring, defensive hockey and boring, monatone, singled word answers on the radio after games.
That's what i remember from his year in Brandon anyway, hopefully he's adapted since then......

No different than last season. Play the hell out of the top 2 lines and then fade in the latter portion of games/season due to fatigue. Also defensemen Bourhis and Guenther played forward during their time, so they're basically getting a more expensive Steve Young in Clouston.

They were better off with Ron Bonneau or Kim Dryka tbh.

I think he has a pretty good resume Mr. Sbtatter!

2 league championships

NHL coaching experience with the Sens and above .500 at that.

Under 18 gold medal winning performance.

Let the Binghamton Sens to many successful seasons.

Sorry but perhaps you have to realize that not every situation is a perfect fit for a coach. I guess you wouldn't get that though.

he is a Mike Keenan style coach, whatever success he has is short lived and players hate him and he gets run out of town. perhaps bruno felt they were lacking that as I have heard Steve was very soft on the players. Well this guy certainly isn't that is for sure. he doesn't play the young guys much at all so development is out the window. Bruno would know his players better than anyone I hope, so this is obviously what he felt they needed to turn the corner.

as you can see, what has been said above seems to hold true. great regular seasons and out early in the playoffs, shows too much fatigue in players and loss of respect from players. but in PA if he can get them to the playoffs every year he will be around a long long time.

If you noticed, I only related the year in Brandon, no one is debating his WHL record in the early 2000's or his AHL/NHL record. If you don't believe me regarding the Brandon experience, ask around!

Too bad he wasn't here for the last couple of seasons :p McNeill could have used a coach who demanded excellence and effort on and off the ice. Bruno has effectively painted himself into a corner now. No longer can the coach be blamed for the team's poor performance. Clouston is an arrogant pr**k but a competant one with a brilliant hockey history. He'll get the most out of the team IMO. Happy here!

Brandon couldn't get him out of there fast enough. Worst mistake KM ever made.

It was a good decision for KM as it made it a lot easier for him to give the HC job to Dwayne Gylywoychuk which has been a great move for the WKs....sometimes after having such a wrong fit it opens your eyes more for what was right infront of you the whole time.

Clouston wont do much in PA, player development wont be too important now. I bet by xmas time Raider fans will be calling for his head, saying what a terrible hiring he was

It was Clouston or the players. KM never had so many complaints from players as he did when Clouston was here, he was brutal with the younger players. Hindsight is 20/20 though, I was pumped with the hire in the beginning as well!

This will be Clouston's last crack at coaching in junior hockey if he fails here like he did in Brandon no 1 will take a chance on him again.

The Raiders over achieved last year in the 1st half of the year & came back down to earth to where they were expected to finish. Don't expect much difference this year either.

Anyone who watched the Raiders in 2011/12 and in the second half of 2012/13 will already know that "defensive hockey" is something that PA was rarely able to accomplish.

It may be boring, but defensive hockey reduces the quantity of shots on goal and also reduces the quality of shots that get through to the goal. With at least one rookie tender this coming season, that's a very good thing

Defensive hockey also causes turnovers and the Raiders scored the majority of their goals on the rush last year...a perfect fit for Clouston's system.

...plus he can coach a power play...so when we do get into the o-zone we should at least look like we know what to do with the puck this year.

While Clouston was not my first choice, he is head and shoulders above the other candidates willing to come here to coach.

If he can get this (very) young team to follow him, PA will be in good shape for the next 2-3 years.

Defensive hockey is 1 of the toughest styles to teach especially at the junior level. There will be a big learning curve, plus getting players to buy in as well can be a problem after having a more run n gun style of coach.

With a goalie with not much experience ween the pipes it could be a long year if things don't go good early in the year. That's when players tend to not buy in anymore to a defensive coach.
