Blades acquire Austin Calladine from the Hitmen...

for a conditional 8th round 2015 draft pick. Seems odd that a 2nd round bantam pick from 2011 would go for that low of a pick, though I guess it could turn in to a higher pick should Calladine do well here.

Any Hiitmen fans know what happened there in Calgary with Austin?

Mainly a case of logjam at forward. Hitmen have a number of bigger, younger forwards ready to play. Austin would hae been slotted on 4th line splitting time with 2-16(Babych & Draude) and 1 17 (Oleksyn) who are all bigger than Austin. Next year he still would've been 3rd or 4th line
He did come into camp in excellent shape and impressed most of us scouts (or so called scouts hah) with his play. And he did improve from last year but up against the bigger players he was easily knocked off the pck. He never quit but unlike previous smaller players (ie Kozun) he never had the speed or highend skill to get overcome his size. Hopefully he gets a good chance with the Blades and get a bunch of points.
