Not exactly hot off the presses news, but I found this out today so figured I'd post it.

Giants Hire Eli Wilson as New Goalie Coach

The Vancouver Giants have hired Eli Wilson as the team's new goaltending coach.

"Obviously I’m really excited to join this organization," said Wilson. "It's a top organization in the Western Hockey League, and being my hometown team, everything worked perfect for me to join the Giants and I'm looking forward to working with Scott Bonner, and Don Hay and his staff."

Wilson has coached many National Hockey League goaltenders including Carey Price, Tim Thomas, Cory Schneider, and Tuukka Rask.

"I've coached at every level, from minor hockey to the NHL, and I've developed goaltenders to move on and reach their goals," added Wilson. "I've had a lot of success in the WHL when I was in Medicine Hat and I know what it takes at this level for goalies to reach their full potential."

Wilson also founded the largest goaltending school in Western Canada and has worked with Hockey Canada, the Ottawa Senators and Anaheim Ducks.

The first time I read his comments I thought well at least he has a matching ego to the position. A lot of I's in his statement jumped out at me. I guess he wanted to put some pressure on himself to perform, or I read too much into it?

Maybe a special coach for every 2 or 3 roster spots? They wouldn't all have to be behind the bench during a game, and at home there are a lot of spots around the rink they could strategically place them with headsets to 'their' players..... They'd have to be a little more creative on the road for some locals but.... :)
