Ams Blank Giants
Vancouver 0 Tri City 4

After coughing up a SH’d marker in the first the Giants never responded. The only bright spot in a dismal outing was the play of 15 yr old netminder Ryan Kubic. Coming into the game a little over 15 minutes into the first, after Lee was pulled after allowing 3 on 12 shots, he turned aside 10 shots of 11. Admittedly the Americans had taken their foot off the pedal and did what they do best. Namely, laying back in the weeds waiting for opportunities.

The Ams opened the scoring 7:28 into the first notching a marker while on the PK. They added two more in the period chasing Payton Lee from the net after he had made only 9 saves on 12 shots. The Giants did pepper Eric Comrie with 43 shots in the game, but could not solve the Winnipeg draft pick on the night. The Ams added a boot to the groin goal in the third period, to put the game out reach. The Giants never felt like they were really able to get back into this one. They got shots on net, but were not bringing the traffic or team unity to the fore, which is something you need if you are going to crack a hot goalie. The Ams had 13 shots on net in the first and only 5 in each of the other periods.

The Giants out shot the Ams 43-23. They went 0 for 5 on the PP, allowing a shorthanded marker and held the Ams to 0 for 2. Morrison and Atwal had the worst minuses (both @ -3). Kulak, Baer, Thrower, Popoff and Volek were the only players without a minus beside their name.

Three Stars

1. Eric Comrie
2. Beau McCue
3. Parker Wotherspoon

Poor goaltending & not many quality shots.

This is Lee's time to shine while Rathjen sits with a concussion. The Giants next four games are all winnable so I hope Lee can play better than the last two games.
