Tips press release:
Hockey Canada officially released their roster for the Under-18 World Cup being held in Breclav, Czech Republic and Piestany, Slovakia from August 9th through August 14th and three Everett Silvertips have earned a spot on Team Canada's Under-18 squad. Goaltender Leland Irving and forwards Zach Hamill and Brady Calla will play for their country in the highly competitive tournament next week. Overall the Silvertips have the most players represented on Team Canada's Under-18 team in the entire Canadian Hockey League.

Irving had a very successful first season with the Silvertips last year. The Swan Hills, Alberta native finished with 9 wins in a back up role and recorded a Goals Against of 1.80 and a .930 Save Percentage. Brady Calla finished his first season in the WHL and the Silvertips with 21 points (11 goals, 10 assists) in 68 games a season ago. The Kelowna, British Columbia native also was one of four recipients of the Silvertips Ironman Award. Last season's Silvertips rookie of the year, Zach Hamill was the top 16 year old scorer in the WHL with 33 points (8 goals, 25 assists). The Port Coquitlam, British Columbia native also finished 4th on the hockey club in points with 33.

"We are thrilled that those three will get a chance to play for their country," mentions Director of Player Personnel Scott Scoville. "I am glad their hard work paid off and I wish them the best."

Canada's Under-18 program and the Summer Development Camp are part of Hockey Canada's Program of Excellence beginning with the regional Under-17 teams and ending with the National Junior Team. The primary objectives of the Under-18 program are to identify, evaluate and condition players for the rigors of international competition by giving them their first exposure to international hockey and travel. Many of these Under-18 players will move on to play with Canada's National Junior team, and many will be high NHL draft picks in 2006.

The Silvertips will begin their 3rd WHL season on Saturday, September 24th in Kamloops and will hold their home opener at the Everett Events Center on Saturday, October 1st against the Prince George Cougars. For season, 22 and 14 game packages, flex packs and group tickets contact the Silvertips office at (425) 252-5100.
