Hitmen Name Dave Lowry Assistant Coach

Calgary, AB – Calgary Hitmen General Manager and Head Coach Kelly Kisio announced today Dave Lowry as the Hitmen’s new Assistant Coach.

"Dave brings a wealth of experience and hockey knowledge to our organization," said Kisio. "His qualities of leadership and commitment were well recognized by the teams he played for in the NHL. We expect Dave will enhance our organization by bringing these qualities to the Hitmen."

Lowry played 1084 NHL career games over 19 seasons posting 351 points (164 goals, 187 assists) and 1191 penalty minutes. In 111 NHL playoff games, the former captain of the Calgary Flames recorded 36 points (16 goals, 20 assists) and 181 penalty minutes. The 40 year-old Lowry was born in Sudbury, Ontario and has resided in Calgary since signing as a free agent with the Flames in 2000. Lowry was Vancouver’s sixth choice, 114th overall, in the 1983 Entry Draft.

Lowry played major junior hockey in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) with the London Knights from 1982-83 to 1984-85 posting 223 points (100 goals, 123 assists) in 169 games. During the 1984-85 campaign with the Knights Lowry was named to the OHL’s First All-Star Team after posting 120 points in 61 games.
