Dear WHL Fans,

Just wanted you to know that this Tuesday will be a very important day for the future of WHL hockey in Swift Current. City Council will be convening in a special en camera (read: councillors don't want anyone to know how they end up voting) meeting to vote on which (if any) renovation project will happen after the upcoming season.

Again, before council are two proposals. One, worth 12-million dollars would add an additional 700 seats; 6-8 sheets of curling ice, 5-7 new luxury suites, new concession/lobby/lounge, meeting rooms, offices, a spiral staircase to the upper-level lounge/suites, alll highlighted by a beautiful steel & glass outer facade. This would truly bring the CCC up to a standard currently being set by Sportmart Place, Prospera Place, Cranbrook Rec Plex & Enmax Centrium.

The other proposal is for a 7.5 million dollar "stripped-down" upgrade, minus the visual appeal of the higher priced proposal. It could almost be described as a steel & aluminum shell. Not pretty at all, and definatly showing little vision for the future in our city. But according to one councillors, it should "get the job done." Certainly a far cry from the cherry-wood desks & cutting-edge lighting in the palacial new council chambers being built.

It's URGENT that all Broncos fans make their views known THIS WEEKEND! Call your councillor. Find where the mayor's latest photo op is (skate park Saturday at 11AM). Post a sign. Shout it from the rooftops. Make your opinion known. Let's ensure the Broncos home is a facility that Broncos fans can get excited about again... and hopefully ensuring the Broncos stay in SW Saskatchewan for decades to come.

Again, TELL YOUR COUNCILLORS THIS WEEKEND that a beautiful Civic Center is essential for the team's long-term success!

Good luck to you Bronco fans, are the councilers and mayor feeling pressured by the fans? What are the odds right now, the $20m, $7.5m or nothing?

Best of luck to getting the snazzy new add-ons and what not. I hate to see franchises getting moved around
