The Brandon Wheat Kings saw their Western Hockey League pre-season record slip to 0-2 Sunday night with a 3-2 loss to the visiting Moose Jaw Warriors at the Keystone Centre.

Blake Barkwell's goal at the 8:14 mark of the third period snapped a 2-2 tie and capped a Moose Jaw comeback that saw the Warriors rally from a 2-0 first period deficit.

Carter Smith and Cole Simpson also scored for the Warriors, who outshot the Wheat Kings 27-25.

Douglas product Brandon Lockerby and veteran center Teegan Moore replied for the Wheat Kings, who lost 2-0 in Swift Current on Friday night. Brandon did have several excellent chances in the dying moments to get the equalizer but Warriors' netminder Sam Houston foiled four Wheat King shooters including Codey Burki and Ryan Reaves in the final three minutes of regulation time.

Brandon will now close out it's 4-game WHL exhibition schedule this coming weekend with games against the visiting Broncos on Friday night and the Pats in Regina on Saturday.

In off-ice news, the National Hockey League's Carolina Hurricanes have returned 20-year old blueliner Riley Day to the WHL club. A former member of the Medicine Hat Tigers, the Brandon native had three goals and nine points last season.
