Fans in attendance at Saturday night's contest at the newly named Brandt Centre were reminded on two occasions that it was in fact, an exhibition game. A minor power surge in the building sent the Pats & Wheaties into their dressing rooms for an early intermission with 36.8 seconds remaining in the opening stanza.

Ryan McDonald & Levi Lind both had a goal and an assist in the first period which saw the Pats outshoot the Wheat Kings 13 - 8. Morgan Malean had Brandon's lone goal in the period.

Just over a minute into the second period another surge caused another eleven minute delay. Shortly after play resumed Codi Burkie scored from the point to tie the game. Shane Halifax quickly replied for the Pats 1:30 later. Tyler Dittmer tied the score with a shot from the blue-line past Linden Rowat to send the teams all square after two periods. Tyler Dittmer scored with 6:27 remaining in the period to tie the game 3 - 3 heading into the third.

Brandon controlled play in the third period having five power-play opportunities, but were unabe to beat Rowat. With just under five minutes remaining in the third period Logan Pyett scored the game winning goal with a shot from the point, beating Mike Nichol. Ian Duval took a pass from Justin Bernhadt and scored an insurance marker with a breakway goal to seal the Pats second victory in the pre-season. Rookie Brett Leffler potted an empty-net goal with ten seconds remaining to give their highest offensive performance of the pre-season.

Rowat made four saves in the showcase shootout following the game, but was out-dualed by Nichol who stopped five of six shots to give Brandon the edge. Levi Lind had the lone shooout goal for the Pats.
