Fans of the Western Hockey League’s Brandon Wheat Kings will be in for a treat this Monday when the defending Eastern Conference Champions launch their new web site – www.wheatkings.com - for the 2005-2006 campaign.

The club’s official web site will go on line this Monday, September 19th and will feature several new elements as well as the return of a number of popular ones including the Brandon Sun / Sobkow Technologies Junior Stars Fantasy Draft.

After attracting the most impressions of any web page last year, fans will again be invited to visit the site, choose their own 15-player roster from a list of sixty players including Vancouver Giants star Gilbert Brule, Devin Setoguchi of the Saskatoon Blades, Moose Jaw’s Kenndal McArdle as well as five members of the Wheat Kings – Derek LeBlanc, Ryan Reaves, Codey Burki, Sami Sandell and Mark Derlago.

In addition to winning a 2006-07 season ticket, this year’s winner will pick up a grand prize compliments of the Brandon Sun and Dufresne Furniture and Appliances. More details on that prize will be announced in October.

“We’ve taken the Western Hockey League’s most feature rich web site and given it a fresh new look,” says web site developer Adam Sobkow, the owner / manager of Brandon’s Sobkow Technologies. “All of the popular features that we have developed over the years have returned…with some exciting new elements added.”

Among those exciting new elements – “Live Chat” on line discussion forums with members of the WHL club. The first such forum is scheduled for Monday, September 26th from 7-8 p.m. with Florida Panthers’ second round draft choice Tyler Plante.

In addition to the draft, fans will have the opportunity to register for the Wheat Kings’ Canad Inns-Insider (subscription to all scouting reports, stats, press releases and promotion information), participate in the hockey club’s Opinion Poll or listen to CKLQ’s play-by-play broadcast with the voice of the Wheat Kings, Bruce Luebke.

Wheat Kings play-by-play will be one of several multi-media features highlighted on the team’s site. Among them – video highlights and stories from CKX Television, This Week in the WHL (radio edition) as well as the Coaches Show featuring Brandon’s general manager and head coach Kelly McCrimmon.

As well, fans can order tickets and merchandise, participate in a number of web site on line contests such as the Campbells Soup Hockey Mom of the Month and Canadian Tire Starting Player. Local schools will also be able to contact the hockey club to schedule in-classroom appearances featuring members of the club discussing the importance of such topics as education and drug awareness.

Looks pretty good

I noticed they got the new roster up complete with picks

Do you think they are gonna keep these guys around or will they send someone back?
