Poll: Rockets the team to beat

The only thing pollsters from across the Western Hockey League agree on is that the Kelowna Rockets are the team to beat heading into the 2005-06 season.

The Rockets, who return most of their WHL Championship-winning roster from last season, garnered 15 of a possible 17 first-place votes in the Western Major Junior Hockey Writers Association pre-season poll.

Vancouver, 10th in the poll, and Kootenay, 17th, got the other top nods in what could best be described as an uncertain set of opinions.

The WMJHWA is comprised of writers in each of the WHL's 16 cities, and will release polls weekly during the season.

A first-place vote is worth 20 points, with 19 for second, 18 for third and so on, down to one point for a last-place vote.
