Silvertips Begin the Marathon on Saturday Night

Everett, WA - The Everett Silvertips will begin their 3rd Western Hockey League season on Saturday night against the Kamloops Blazers at the Interior Savings Centre in Kamloops, BC at 7:00 p.m. The Silvertips in regular season openers have posted a 1-1 record.

PRE-SEASON LEADING SCORERS
The Everett Silvertips finished the pre-season with a 2-3 record. Both victories came over the Seattle Thunderbirds.

The Silvertips went 4 for 40 (10.0%) on the power play and 29 for 34 (85.2%) on the penalty kill.

2005-2006 EVERETT SILVERTIPS
The 2005-2006 version of the Everett Silvertips returns 18 players from last season including 9 defensemen. During the summer, the Silvertips acquired John Lammers in a trade with the Lethbridge Hurricanes and picked up Peter Mueller the Silvertips 2nd Round Pick (21st Overall) in the 2003 WHL Bantam Draft. Mueller tallied 34 goals and 35 assists with the USA Under-18 NTDP last season and won a gold medal with Team USA at the Under-18 World Championships last spring. Zach Hamill, Brady Calla and Leland Irving return after winning a gold medal at the 2005 Under-18 World Cup last summer. All three contributed to the Silvertips success last season. The Silvertips also bring in newcomer Ondrej Fiala, the Silvertips 1st Round Pick (30th Overall) in the 2005 CHL Import Draft. Last season, Fiala posted 9 goals and 11 assists with HC Trinec and HC Kladno in the Czech Junior League.

VERSUS THE KAMLOOPS BLAZERS
Overall the Silvertips are 3-6 all-time against the Kamloops Blazers and 1-4 at the Interior Savings Centre in Kamloops. Last season, the Silvertips went 2-3 against the Blazers and 1-2 in Kamloops. The Blazers have won three straight meetings against Everett. Future Meetings: October 16 @ Kamloops, November 18 @ Everett, January 8 @ Everett.

VERSUS THE BC DIVISION
The Silvertips are 15-22-2-3 all-time against B.C. Division foes (9-10-1-1 at home, 6-12-1-2 on the road). The Silvertips have lost eight straight road games against the B.C. Division. The Silvertips last road win against the B.C. Division was a 3-0 victory over the Blazers on September 26, 2004.

SPECIALTY TEAMS
The Silvertips finished 9th in the WHL on the power play (69 for 383, 18.0%) and 1st in the WHL and CHL on the penalty kill (245 for 276, 88.8%) last season. The Kamloops Blazers finished 14th in the WHL on the power play (60 for 386, 15.5%) and 17th on the penalty kill (333 for 418, 79.7%) last season. During the 2004-2005 season, the Silvertips went 5 for 31 against the Blazers on the power play. Kamloops went 2 for 16 against the Silvertips last season on the extra man advantage.

EVERETT SILVERTIPS ON THE RADIO
Join Keith Gerhart and Dave Sheldon for all of the action of Sound Transit Everett Silvertips Hockey on North Sound 1380 ESPN Radio and on www.everettsilvertips.com. Once again the Silvertips will broadcast all 72 games this season. If you want to listen to the game inside the Everett Events Center during all home games, tune your walkman to North Sound's FM Station, 107.3 FM. Also the Everett Silvertips Hockey Show will be broadcasted live from the food court at the Everett Mall. The Silvertips invite all fans to attend every Monday night starting on Monday, September 26th from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. for the Everett Silvertips Hockey Show at the Everett Mall.

INDIVIDUAL TICKETS ON SALE
Individual tickets for all Everett Silvertips regular season home games are on sale. Tickets will be available at the Everett Events Center Box Office or by calling 1-866-EEC-TIXX. Tickets are also available online at www.everettsilvertips.com for all 36 home games at the Everett Events Center.

If you are planning to buy more than 20 tickets for an individual game, contact the Silvertips office at (425) 252-5100 for a group discount. The 2005 home opener weekend for the Silvertips at the Everett Events Center will take place on Saturday, October 1st against the Prince George Cougars at 7:05 p.m. and Sunday, October 2nd against the defending WHL Champions, Kelowna Rockets at 5:05 p.m.

The Silvertips home schedule will also feature many promotional nights throughout the season. The Silvertips will hold three Northwest Plus Credit Union Dash for Cash events on October 22nd, December 17th and February 25th. Five Everett Silvertips bobblehead nights will also be a main feature this season. Abbey Carpet Bobblehead nights will take place on November 22nd, December 6th, January 16th, January 29th and February 17th. The Silvertips will also have a New Year's Eve game against the Moose Jaw Warriors on Saturday, December 31st at 5:05 p.m.
