ICE CHIPS: The KOOTENAY ICE enter the second full week of the 2005-2006 regular season with a 2-0-0-0 record after defeating the TRI-CITY AMERICANS and the SPOKANE CHIEFS over the past weekend…KOOTENAY will play four of their next eight games at the CRANBROOK REC PLEX.



CHAMPIONS UPDATE: The CHAMPIONS OF THE ICE will be hosting a Tailgate Party on Saturday, October 1 from 4:00 to 6:30 pm in the North Parking Lot of the CRANBROOK REC PLEX…On October 15 the CHAMPIONS are hosting a Post Game Team Introduction at the Prestige Rocky Mountain Resort…Tickets are $5.00 and will be available at the games this weekend…For more information on either event, contact the Kootenay ICE Office at 250-417-0322.



ROSTER UPDATE: The ICE have 24 players on their roster, including three goalies, eight defensemen and 13 forwards…KOOTENAY begins the 2005-2006 season with 13 returning players from last year…Of the remaining 11 players, two were drafted in the CHL Import Draft, two were listed and seven were drafted through the WHL Bantam Draft.



DID YOU KNOW: Forward TRENT FUSSI recorded his first career WHL goal September 23 versus the AMERICANS…Forward LUKE WIENS recorded his first career League assist last versus TRI-CITY…Forward MAREK CURILLA recorded his first career WHL point (two assists) September 24 versus SPOKANE…Forward ANDREW BAILEY recorded his first career point in the League versus the CHIEFS (assist)…DALE MAHOVSKY, who is third in career games played with the ICE franchise (277), needs eight assists to move into second for career assists…Lifetime KOOTENAY is 5-1-2-0 in their home opener.



INJURIES / TRANSACTIONS: Goaltender TAYLOR DAKERS will be out of the ICE line-up two weeks with a hip injury…DUSTIN SYLVESTER will be out of the KOOTENAY line-up day to day with a knee injury…The ICE traded Defenseman DEREK PRICE to SWIFT CURRENT on September 21 in exchange for a fourth round selection in the 2006 WHL BANTAM DRAFT…KOOTENAY released Forward LAINE ALLEN on September 19…The ICE have recalled Goaltender TYLER PUGH from DRAYTON VALLEY of the ALBERTA JUNIOR HOCKEY LEAGUE.



ONE YEAR AGO: After two games of the 2004-2005 season the ICE were 1-0-1-0.



DRAFTED PLAYERS: TAYLOR DAKERS – San Jose Sharks (5th Round, 2005 Draft), BRETT SUTTER – Calgary Flames (6th Round, 2005 Draft), RYAN RUSSELL – New York Rangers (7th Round, 2005 Draft), ADAM CRACKNELL – Calgary Flames (9th Round, 2004 Draft).
