Ross Returns In A 2 - 1 Win

2 - 1 works just fine for the Regina Pats. For the second consecutive game at home the Pats defeated their opponent by a score of 2 - 1. This time behind sixteen-year-old netminder Linden Rowat, who made twenty saves, and improved the Pats record to 2-1-0-0. Last Saturday the Pats defeated Brandon by the same 2 - 1 score.

On Wednesday the Pats came out flying managing to outshoot Dean Chynoweth's team 11 - 3 in the opening stanza. Shane Halifax opened the scoring for the home squad 2:48 into the period with a power play marker assisted by Tyson Sievert & Levi Lind. The game remained scoreless until 4:21 into the second period when Nick Ross hit the post off a shot from the point and Logan Pyett was there to scored on the rebound.

Playing from behind in the final period Swift Current out-shot the Pats 13 - 10 and were able to spoil Rowat's shutout bid with twenty-nine seconds remaining when Ned Lukacevic scored a power play marker. The goal came while Swift Current enjoyed a 6 - 4 opportunity with Kyle Moir on the bench and Derek Reinhart in the penalty box.

Moir played well in net for the Broncos and was named the second star of the game making twenty-six saves. His counterpart Rowat, was named the first star in his first WHL regular season game.

Wednesday night marked the return of nineteen-year-old forward Kyle Ross back into the line-up. The assistant captain missed the entire pre-season and the first two games of the season after suffering a serious back injury in an automobile accident this past spring.

Both teams scored once on five power play opportunities in a game which was played in under two hours.
