John Lammers had the lone Silvertips goal tonight, his 3rd in 3 games
Everett, WA - Tonight at the Everett Events Center the visiting Kelowna Rockets beat the Everett Silvertips by a score of 3-1. This brings Everett's record to 1-2 and Kelowna's to 2-3.
Everett, not lacking scoring opportunities, only managed to put a mark up on the scoreboard once. At 8:47 of the first period, while Derek Yeomans was already down on the ice, John Lammers put the puck into an empty net. Zach Hamill posted an assist for the second time in as many games while Brady Calla earned his second assist on the season.
Kelowna attributed two of their three goals to Captain Troy Bodie. On the first shot of the game Bodie scored an unassisted goal at 2:47. He answered again eight minutes later on a power play goal with assists coming from Alexander Elder and Blake Comeau. The Rockets did not make it 3-1 until there was less than a minute left in the third. At 19:04 Justin Keller found the empty Everett net to finish the game. Brent Howarth earned the lone assist.
In goal for Everett, for the second straight night, was Leland Irving. Irving stopped 8 of 10 shots in the loss. His record falls to 1-2. Derek Yeomans, the Kelowna netminder, made saves on all but one of the Silvertips' 29 shots and the victory propels his record to 2-1. On the power play Everett went 0 for 5 while the Rockets completed 1 of 4. Everett out shot Kelowna by a margin of 29-11. The Rockets only managed one shot during the entire third period. The shot was on an empty net which resulted in a goal to take the game to it's final score of 3-1.
The Silvertips are back home again on Wednesday, October 5th, where they will battle against the Spokane Chiefs. The action starts at 7:05pm.
