BOYD NAMED GREYHOUND WHL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Calgary - The Greyhound WHL Player of the Week is forward Dustin Boyd of the Moose Jaw Warriors. Boyd earned player of the week honours by recording five goals and nine points in four games including two power-play goals and two game-winning goals during the week of September 23rd to October 3rd. Boyd helped lead the Warriors to a perfect 4-0 record to start the 2005-06 WHL season.

On Friday, September 23rd, Boyd recorded a power-play goal in a 5-2 victory against the Raiders in Prince Albert. On Saturday, September 24th, Boyd recorded two goals and three assists in a 9-3 win against the visiting Saskatoon Blades.

On Saturday, October 1st, Boyd scored the game-winning goal and added an assist in a 4-3 victory against the visiting Regina Pats. On Sunday, October 2nd, Boyd recorded a power-play goal in a 5-2 win against the visiting Red Deer Rebels.

Boyd, a 19-year-old from Winnipeg, Manitoba, was drafted by the Calgary Flames in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.

Honourable mention goes to Kris Versteeg of the Kamloops Blazers and Kris Lazaruk of the Kootenay Ice.
