I'm quoting this from an email received from Alan Caldwell.

For those who don't know Alan he is an absolute wealth of information on the Hitmen and has a website (http://members.shaw.ca/caldwela/) with all you would ever like to know about the team players and stats wise.

Looks like six Hitmen alumni have cracked the opening day rosters of NHL
teams this year:

Ryan Getzlaf (Anaheim)
Darcy Hordichuk (Nashville)
Stephen Peat (Washington)
Matt Pettinger (Washington)
Fredrik Sjostrom (Phoenix)
Brad Stuart (San Jose)

When Getzlaf makes his debut, he will become the 16th Hitmen alumni to play
in the NHL. He also looks promising to become the first drafted-and-developed
Hitman to become an NHL star....

There are also 17 ex-Hitmen on AHL opening night rosters:

Kris Beech (Milwaukee Admirals)
Tyler Beechey (Toronto Marlboros)
Johnny Boychuk (Lowell Lock Monsters)
Pavel Brendl (Lowell Lock Monsters)
Barry Brust (Manchester Monarchs)
Mike Egener (Springfield Falcons)
Owen Fussey (Hershey Bears)
Robin Gomez (Hershey Bears)
Brent Krahn (Omaha Knights)
Andrew Ladd (Lowell Lock Monsters)
Shaun Landolt (Toronto Marlboros)
Konstantin Pushkarev (Manchester Monarchs)
Mark Rooneem (Houston Aeros)
Ray Schultz (Albany River Rats)
Brandon Segal (Milwaukee Admirals)
Jerred Smithson (Milwaukee Admirals)
Patrick Wellar (Peoria Rivermen)

With three alumni each, Hitmen fans are sure to see familiar faces when
checking the boxscore of Lowell vs. Milwaukee games. The two teams never
play each other this year though so it's moot. :-)

And lastly, the U of C Dinos look like a really good place to catch former
Hitmen plying their trade this year - they have six of them. Ryan Annesley,
Wade Davis, Paul Gentile, Tyrel Lucas, Brett O'Malley, and Lonny Tetley. Yes,
I know we all remember Lonny Tetley. Might be worth checking out a few Dinos
games if you don't usually go....there's also seven other Hitmen alumni in
the Canada West university league this year who could be in the opposition
lineup: Gerry Festa and Lance Morrison on UBC, Rob Smith on Manitoba, Shaun
Norrie with Lethbridge, and hated rival Alberta features Curtis Rich, Jeff
Feniak, and Lee Zalasky.

So that's where Gentile is, using up some of that 50/50 money. Good stuff, I really liked him in a Tiger uniform. Brought a lot of hustle and grit to the team.

On the one hand, I am kinda surprised Ladd is only in the AHL. On the other, no I'm not. Glad he's not in Calgary though.

In the case of Sjostrom, his being in the NHL is only a rumour, for tonight at least. Wayne Gretzky dressed him for tonights game vs the Kings, but forgot to list him on the Coyotes' official lineup. He was ruled ineligible for the game, and the not-so-great one put his own team down a man all night long.

Terrific start there Wayno.
