WATT PURCHASES TICKETS TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE

Spokane Chief Goaltender Jim Watt will be giving back to the Spokane community this season by purchasing four season tickets and donating them to cancer related charities.

Jim's family has recently been touched by the disease with the recent recovery of his mother from breast cancer and his grandfather being diagnosed.

"I understand how cancer can affect the whole family and want to provide the opportunity for a positive experience," Watt said.

The season tickets will be distributed through a number of different charities, including but not limited to, Children’s Miracle Network, Cancer Patient Care and the Ronald McDonald House.

"I hope this offers the chance to forget about the worries and families can enjoy themselves at a game," Watt finished.

"Jim wants to make a difference in a positive way and came to us with the idea of a very generous offer. The community and those that have been affected by cancer will be able to benefit because of his thoughtfulness," Chiefs General Manager Tim Speltz said.

"Our organization will be flexible with Jim’s tickets to ensure there is always availability," Speltz said.

Watt is a 19-year-old who is in his fourth season as a Spokane Chiefs. The Edmonton, Alberta native already owns the Chiefs career record with eight shutouts, having posted four in each of the last two seasons. Watt has appeared in 112 games, including a career high 55 last season.
