Silvertips Finish the Week 3-1 and Move to First Place in U.S. Division

Everett, WA - The Everett Silvertips capped off a very successful week with a 5-4 victory over the Portland Winter Hawks at the Rose Garden on Sunday night. Overall, the Silvertips finished the week 3-1 and are currently in first place in the U.S. Division with a 7-4-0-0 (14 points) record.
EVERETT SILVERTIPS LEADING SCORERS
Peter Mueller (3 goals, 10 assists) leads the Silvertips in scoring with 13 points. Defenseman Shaun Heshka (2 goals, 10 assists) is 2nd on the hockey club in scoring with 12 points and is tied with Mueller for the team high in assists with 10. Forwards Zach Hamill (3 goals, 8 assists) and John Lammers (5 goals, 6 assists) are currently tied for 3rd on the team in scoring with 11 points. Torrie Wheat leads the Silvertips in goals scored with 7 and leads the team in power play goals with 4. Mark Kress and first year defenseman Eric Doyle are tied for the team high in plus/minus with a +3 rating. In goal, Leland Irving currently has a 6-4 record with a 2.04 GAA, 91.5 SP and 1 Shutout.

A few Silvertips are among the league leaders in the WHL. Goaltender Leland Irving is currently 3rd in Goals Against Average (2.04), tied for 5th in Save Percentage (91.5%), tied for 2nd in Shutouts (1) and tied for 6th in Wins (6). Defenseman Shaun Heshka is currently ranked 3rd among all WHL defensemen in scoring with 2 goals and 10 assists. Peter Mueller is ranked 3rd among all rookies in scoring with 3 goals and 10 assists while Torrie Wheat is tied for 2nd in the WHL in power play goals with 4.

The Everett Silvertips are currently 1st in the WHL on the power play (17 of 64, 26.6%) and 6th in the WHL on the penalty kill (44 for 51, 86.3%).
MUELLER NAMED WHL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Everett Silvertips forward Peter Mueller was named the WHL Player of the Week during the week of October 17th to October 23rd. Last week the Bloomington, Minnesota native tallied 2 goals and 7 assists for 9 points to help lead the Silvertips to a 3-1 week. Mueller is currently leading the Silvertips in scoring with 3 goals and 10 assists for 13 points and is ranked 3rd among rookie scorers in the WHL. With Mueller receiving player of the week honors, it is the first time that a Silvertips player has received a WHL Player of the Week honor in franchise history.
VERSUS THE PORTLAND WINTER HAWKS
The Silvertips are currently 1-0 against the Portland Winter Hawks this season. The Everett Silvertips are 13-6-4-0 (6-4-1 at home, 7-2-3 on the road) all time against the Portland Winter Hawks.
VERSUS THE VANCOUVER GIANTS
Overall, the Silvertips are 3-7-0-2 all time against the Vancouver Giants (2-3-0-1 at home and 1-4-0-1 on the road). Last season the Giants took the season series by going 5-1 against the Silvertips. The Silvertips do have a playoff series victory over the Giants in the 2004 WHL Playoffs when the Silvertips defeated the Giants 4-2 in the 2nd Round of the 2004 WHL Playoffs.
VERSUS THE BRANDON WHEAT KINGS
The Everett Silvertips are 2-0 all time against the Brandon Wheat Kings. Back in the 2003-2004 season the Silvertips defeated the Wheat Kings 6-2 at the Everett Events Center. Last season at the Keystone Centre in Brandon, Manitoba the Silvertips slipped by the Wheat Kings 2-1 behind 2 goals by Torrie Wheat.
