Calla and Hamill Named to Team WHL

Silvertips Duo to Participate in the ADT Canada/Russia Challenge

Everett, WA – October 26th, 2005: Silvertips forwards Brady Calla and Zach Hamill have been selected to Team WHL who will play in the 2005 ADT Canada/Russia Challenge on Thursday, December 1st in Regina, Saskatchewan. It is the first time in franchise history that a Silvertips player is participating in the event.

Currently Zach Hamill is tied for 3rd in scoring on the Silvertips with 3 goals and 8 assists for 11 points. The Port Coquitlam, BC finished as the top 16-year old scorer in the WHL last season with 33 points (8 goals, 25 assists). Hamill also finished 2nd in scoring at the 2005 World Under-18 World Cup in the Czech Republic for Team Canada by posting 5 goals and 3 assists.

Brady Calla currently has tallied 3 goals and 4 assists for 7 points this season for the Silvertips. Last season Calla added 11 goals and 10 assists for 21 points in his first season with the Silvertips. The Kelowna, BC native was also named an assistant captain for Team Canada at the World Under-18 World Cup in the Czech Republic.

Calgary – The Canadian Hockey League today announced the rosters of player for TEAM WHL who will compete in the 2005 ADT Canada-Russia Challenge in Regina, Saskatchewan. The roster for Team WHL that will compete in Saskatoon was announced earlier today.

The selection committee consisted of Donn Clark, Prince Albert Raiders, Bruce Hamilton, Kelowna Rockets, Brent Sutter, Red Deer Rebels and Blair Mackasey, Hockey Canada.

“This international series featuring the top Canadian talent taking on the Russians is a major highlight for WHL fans" stated WHL Commissioner Ron Robison. " It is fitting that during our 40th Anniversary season our two longest standing WHL franchises Regina Pats and the Saskatoon Blades will host this prestigious event".

The Drummondville Voltigeurs will host the first game of the ADT Canada-Russia Challenge on November 21. The second game will be hosted by the Moncton Wildcats on November 23. The Kitchener Rangers will host the first OHL-based game on November 24 followed by the Peterborough Petes on November 28. The series will conclude in the WHL with the Saskatoon Blades hosting on November 30 and the Regina Pats hosting the finale on December 1.

Head Coach for Team WHL will be Brent Sutter of the Red Deer Rebels, while Cory Clouston of the Kootenay Ice and Curtis Hunt of the Regina Pats will serve as Assistant Coaches.

All six games will be broadcast nationally on Rogers Sportsnet and the two QMJHL-hosted games will be broadcast in Quebec on RDS.

Over all....three Cougars getting the nod for team WHL. Things are sure looking up here in Cougarville! Great job Hunter, Drazzy, and Rodgers! :clap:

Three Rockets also, Comeau, Keller and Yeomans. If there is a injury I hope Card or Cumisky get a shot at it. Cumisky's speed last night was unbelievable even though it was his first game back this year.
