The Columbus Blue Jackets on Tuesday acquired six-time All-Star forward Sergei Fedorov and a fifth-round pick in the 2006 draft from the Anaheim Mighty Ducks.
Fedorov heads to Columbus for center Tyler Wright and defenseman Francois Beauchemin.
Fedorov played only five games for the Ducks after battling a groin injury that originally took him out of the lineup on Oct. 10. He returned to the ice Saturday and has just one assist on the season.
"Sergei Fedorov is one of the league's most gifted players and a proven winner who will bring tremendous experience, speed and playmaking abilities to our lineup," Jackets GM Doug MacLean said in a statement.
Fedorov joined the Mighty Ducks in 2003 after spending his first 13 seasons with the Detroit Red Wings, where he won three Stanley Cups.
The Blue Jackets needed a boost to their lineup after a disappointing 5-13-0 start. Expectations were high after the team acquired Adam Foote and Bryan Berard, but they've been slow to adjust to the new, faster NHL game.
Columbus has also battled without young star Rick Nash, who has played only three games this season because of injuries.
