Well, a pretty good game tonight in PA. A lot of chances, some big hits, excellent goaltending at both ends. I think a tie for both would have been the right result, but we go to shoot-outs and thats the way it goes. Giants were a bit slow in the 1st period, but picked it up in the 2nd, and continued on from there. Pretty obvious the Giants were tired, a lot of mental mistakes tonight, but a nice solid effort after a very long trip.
NOTES
Slade and Deckert got the starts tonight.
Mikkelson (Ankle), Dulle Voytechuk and Rutherford were the Giants scratches
35-29 were the shots tonight in Favour of the Giants.
PP Giants 1/5, PA 0/2
JD Watt returned to the lineup.
GOALS
2. VAN Scharff, (3) (Reese, Machacek), 16:40 Scharff gets a pass from Reese in the slot, Albers is right beside him, Scharff is wide open and he puts it top shelf past Deckert
2. P.A Chipchura, (5) (Ottmann, Byers), 18:09 Strange play. Shot comes in Hits Slade on the shoulder goes up in the air, Slade losses it in the air, drops down right in the crease by the post and Chipchura pokes it home.
3. VAN Blum, (4) (Kraus, Repik), 6:58 (PP) On the PP, Kraus fires a cross slot pass, to Blum who is cheating down from the point and he wires it past Deckertt.
3. P.A Chipchura, (6) (Erickson, Howarth), 14:46 Howarthtakes a shot rebound comes off Slade, Erickson taps it to Chipchura who fires it home into the empty net.
SHOO-OUT
1. Kraus - Shot High, missed the net
2. Seitsonen - Shot Stick side, GOAL
3. Bartley - Deke, save Deckert
4. Novak - Shot to the 5-hole, trickles in. GOAL
FISTICUFFS
None
OFFICIATING
Zalasky, he did allright, but he really put the whistlke away in the last half of the third. Fistric could have been called for interference in the last minute, and the high stick Fistric took after that should have been called. I felt he let a lot of the clutch and grab go tonight. GRADE:C
DUMB PENALTY OF THE NIGHT
Non tonight really.
INTERNET FEED
Both the audio and the Video were both good tonight. Commentators loved to call him Kyle Watt, and JD Lamb, but besides that they were fine.
OVERALL
A fairly entertaining game tonight. Both teams looked a little tired, but good overall effort. Like I said earlier, a shame there was a loser tonight, but c'est la vie.
Excellent roadtrip guys, 8 out of 10 points, in a 5 game in 6 night swing is excellent work. Fantastic effort, and work ethic guys.
Have a nice safe trip home, and a well deserved rest when you get back. We all look forward to seeing you play again on Friday. :)
3 STARS
